A picture perfect potter along the Cornish coast path from Polzeath to Rock

If it’s fresh air and freedom you seek, then I promise you a walk along the Cornish coast path from Polzeath to Rock will do you the world of good. This picture perfect trail has to be one of the most glorious in all the UK and a favourite of both locals and visitors, most notably the late John Betjeman. The route is simple; head south-west from Polzeath along the coast path (sea on your right) and follow the well worn path along to Daymer Bay.

Don’t expect a gentile potter, this rugged ramble is a real blustery British affair, designed to blow away the cobwebs. You’ll be met with far reaching views, sparkling seas and beautiful beaches. You might also spot the collection of hidden coves below – the perfect haven for those seeking to escape the summer crowds.

A favourite spot for kite surfing, with the tide out, Daymer Beach provides a vast playground for children and adults alike. The dunes offer shelter on a windy day and you are even allowed to BBQ on this beach, provided you clear up after yourselves, of course! Those feeling spritely can wander right the way round to Rock. Alternatively, do a loop back to Polzeath via Daymer Lane, climbing the hill to Mowhay Café and rewarding yourself with a well-deserved homemade cake and a cuppa.

TiYK Top Tip! Be sure to check the tide times before you set out. Those that wish to wander round to Rock when the tide is in will be presented with a hellish hike up Braey Hill. Not ideal when laden with beach gear, bags or babies. Current by-laws mean that dogs are allowed on Daymer Beach all year round.
